Unboxing of the Viliv x70 EX
6/8/2009 6:01:48 AM

The Viliv x70 EX is another nice UMPC from Viliv.  Like the Viliv S5, it also has a car kit and built in GPS.  It is built around a larger 7" touch screen though.  Stay tuned for a more in depth review later this week.

This thing looks great.
I found it for $599, just not in stock yet.
How does it run with SD2? I might have to get one to replace my Atom setup I have now.

Is the sceen antiglare, etc.
Thanks

The x70 runs StreetDeck quite well. The screen is glossy and does have a noticeable glare, but I was still able to see it and use it for navigation.

godofcpu,
You say it does have glare, "but I was still able to see it and use it for navigation".
Would you say the screen is worse, better, or the same as a standard Lilliput 7" screen?
Thanks

I don't have a lilliput to compare it to. I never noticed the glare myself though until someone else pointed it out.

In direct sunlight, just barely and only if your looking at something with high contrast. I was able to use it on a sunny day in my car just fine though. I wouldn't consider it a sunlight readable display, I would consider it a good display for a GPS Navigation though and comparable brightness to those found on a decent portable navigation devices.

Thanks,
This sounds like it would work very well for a car pc.

Will all the stuff you did in SD2 for the S5 work on this new X70ES?

Sweet,
Any chance of you selling them with SD2 as a package?
